Merryhatton Garden Centre, East Fortune, EH39 5JS. Tel: 01620 880278. Open all year, 9am – 5.30pm. 5 miles south, on B1347. On bus route 121. Parking. Popular garden centre with large range of garden plants, shrubs and trees. Café.
Tantallon Arts & Crafts Studios, Halfland Barns Schoolhouse, EH39 5PW. Tel: 0131 467 8300. Open daily 10am – 4pm. 3 miles east, just off the A198 Dunbar Road. On bus route 120. Parking. Working artists’ studio specialising in ceramics. All the work is on show at the Bass Rock Pottery shop and is hand crafted by local resident artists. The Bass Rock Pottery Shop features work by David Cohen, Ronnie Fulton and Esther Cohen. Each of the artists has their own unique style from Ronnie’s Wee Angry Whales and Saucy Mermaids to Esther’s hand painted Bass Rock Tile souvenirs and Dave’s beautiful collectable Raku bottles. It is a great way to see the work at the place where it’s made and you can even have a chat to one of the artists while visiting.

Set in a beautiful walled garden, Smeaton offers the best range of trees and plants in East Lothian.

Admission free. Parking. Headquarters of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club. Houses the renowned George Waterston Library and the Donald Watson Art Gallery. Programme of events throughout the year includes art exhibitions, birdwatching for beginners courses, an annual Book Fair, goosewatch and optics days.
Scotland’s Gardens. Scotland's Gardens raises funds for other deserving charities by facilitating the opening of gardens of horticultural interest throughout Scotland to the public. Gardens currently listed are Belhaven House with Belhaven Hill School, Broadwoodside, Gullane Coastal Gardens, Humbie Dean, Longniddry Gardens, Shepherd House, Tyninghame House and the Walled Garden, Winton Castle, East Lothian Garden Trail and Stobshiel House.
